Scream #29
Helloween is back with a new album, their second
with Andi Deris behind the microphone. "Time Of The Oath" is the title of the
new album, and Andi could tell us that some things where done different than
usual on this album...
- First of all it felt like it was a band who did this new album. On the last one I only had a few weeks to prepare myself before we entered the studio. We also spent far more time on this album. We worked with ideas for five weeks before we entered the studio, and I feel that we got a much harder edge on this album compared with the last one.
Andi wrote the lyrics for seven of the twelve songs on the album. And all seven is based on one person in particular...
- This album is dedicated to Nostradamus because he predicted that "The Time Of The Oath" would be between the year 1995 and 2000. That means that something is going to happen soon, doesn't it? "The Time Of The Oath" could be avoided if mankind worked together on global solutions.
So this is a concept-album then?
- No, not really, we have these seven songs that are influenced by his predictions, but nothing more.
It is well known that Nostradamus' predictions doesn't actually cheer up the reader, and with these kind of lyrics it probably means that this is not a happy album?
- It's a bit depressing at times, yes, although I don't think that reflects the music itself.
Andi could also reveal that there are plans of doing a new live-album this year?
- Yes, we will do some recording in Italy and Spain, and hopefully we will get enough material to do a double-live album. There will also be a video as well. If things work out we have plans to get this released during the autumn of this year.
